Leading scholars discuss creation, evolution and the Scopes Trial

As part of the Scopes Trial Centennial celebration in July, Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation presented Evolving Conflict: Scopes at 100, a symposium examining a number of the causes, issues, and enduring legacies of the Scopes Trial.

Presenters included Dr. Nick Spencer (“Science, Religion and How We Got Here”), Attorney Jerry Summers, (“The Trial and Its People”), Dr. Edward Larson, (Legacy of the Trial), Dr. Neal Doran (“Science at the Scopes Trial and Since”), Dr. John Hawks (“Human Origins: What Paleontology Tells Us”), Dr. Joel Duff (“Christians and Evolution after the Trial”), and Dr. Todd Wood (“What if We Just Didn't Fight?”). At the symposium dinner, Dr. Randy Moore spoke on the life of the trial’s namesake, John Thomas Scopes.

Video recordings of the talks are available here, courtesy of Dr. Rick Townsend, Visiting Scholar, Center for Values in Medicine, Science and Technology, University of Texas at Dallas.
