Radio Theater

Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation and Tennessee Valley Theatre offer a pair of family-friendly radio dramas each fall

In the days before television, families gathered around a radio to listen to broadcasts of programs – music, drama, comedy, news – and let their imaginations take them wherever they needed to go.

As special holiday treats, Rhea Heritage Preservation Foundation and Tennessee Valley Theatre have teamed up to present classic radio programs in the Rhea County Courthouse. Read by voice actors from the two groups, audiences have enjoyed “The Time Machine” and “The War of the Worlds,” adapted for radio from stories by H. G. Wells, and the beloved Christmas program “It’s A Wonderful Life.”

Join us during PumpkinFest in October and Christmas at the Courthouse in December to hear the stories and see how sound effects are created to add a special feeling to the event.
