Mississippi Governor Henry Whitfield signs legislation making Mississipp the second state to ban the teaching of human evolution in its public schools. The University of Mississippi’s chancellor had urged Whitfield to veto the bill, but reassured him that the university was a Christian school “shot through and through with the teachings of our Lord.”
