Centennial celebration of the Scopes Trial ends on a high note
The final day of the Scopes Trial Play & Festival was a huge success. All four performances of the Scopes Trial Play played to sold-out audiences.
Coker Museum in Chattanooga sponsored an exhibition of almost a dozen cars, trucks and motorcycles built in or before 1925, the year of the Scopes Trial.
About 250 people showed up for Dinner with the Cast following the final performance. Original planned for the courthouse lawn, the dinner was moved indoors at Dayton City School because of the threat of thunderstorms. The Roaring Twenties-era menu created by Oren's Orchard Café featured chicken a la king, glazed ham, squash casserole, twice-baked potatoes, pineapple upside down cake, and peanut butter pie.
Following the dinner, Chattanooga's Scenic City Sound played big band hits from the '20s.
