The Dayton Progressive Club commits to raising $5,000 ($87,200 in 2023) to “tell the world about Dayton.” Although members of the group insisted that John Scopes’s upcoming trial was not a publicity stunt, they also noted that they “cannot see why Dayton should not reap the benefits.”
